The Communications Manager is a key leadership position responsible for Tourism New Zealand's strategic internal and external corporate communications and engagement, supporting delivery of the organisation's strategy and business plan. The role supports the organisation to communicate and engage stakeholders in its marketing activity, and how this is evolving as the way people plan, book and experience travel continues to change.
This role leads and sets clear direction for the corporate communications team, delivering strategic communications, corporate media and stakeholder engagement, and guiding the team through a changing communications landscape. You'll work closely with stakeholders across our global organisation, provide strategic advice to the Chief Executive and Executive team, and lead communications to continue building a strong reputation for Tourism New Zealand.

You're an experienced communications leader who can think strategically, build trust quickly, and adept at ensuring communications activity has measurable impact.
- 8+ years corporate communications experience.
- Proven experience leading a high-performing corporate communications function, delivering internal and external communications.
- Strong strategic nous, you can advise senior leaders and translate strategy into clear, credible messages for diverse audiences.
- Experience supporting Chief Executive and senior leaders with media. engagement and providing advice and guidance on corporate reputation.
- Experience in news media management and acting as media spokesperson for the organisation.
- Proven experience with crisis /event communications with sound judgement and the ability to operate calmly.
- Strong learning agility to lead a team through a changing communications landscape, championing practical use of AI and new technology to lift impact.
- Exceptional writing skills and attention to detail.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically to support TNZ activity and relationships.
