As the Country Manager - India, you will be the face and voice of New Zealand tourism in one of our most exciting growth markets. You'll lead the development and execution of our India market development strategy from Mumbai, building high-impact strategic partnerships across the travel, airline, and business events sectors.
This is a rare opportunity to lead New Zealand's presence in one of the world's most dynamic markets. You'll represent Tourism New Zealand in multi-agency forums, working closely with New Zealand Inc. partners to ensure a coordinated, strategic approach to market development.
What you'll lead:
- Strategic Partnerships: Build and grow high-impact relationships with airlines, travel trade, and business event partners.
- Market Innovation: Use insights and segmentation to develop compelling New Zealand travel products tailored to Indian travellers.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Be the key connector between Indian travel trade and New Zealand industry partners.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor one direct report, fostering a high-performing, values-aligned team.
- Government Representation: Represent TNZ in New Zealand Inc. initiatives and ensure alignment with broader trade and diplomatic goals.
What you will need | Ngā pūkenga mō tēnei tūranga
- Proven experience (min 8 years) in market development, strategic partnerships, or tourism marketing.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams in a matrixed or regional structure.
- Understanding of India's travel trade ecosystem and tourism landscape, including consumer behaviour, distribution channels, and competitive dynamics.
- A strong commercial mindset: you understand how to drive value, spot opportunities, and turn strategy into measurable growth.
- Demonstrated ability to drive commercial outcomes through partnerships, trade engagement, and consumer marketing
- Ability to build and nurture high-impact partnerships that deliver mutual value.
- Skilled in building and maintaining high-level relationships with government bodies, tourism boards, and industry partners.
- Exceptional project management and delivery capability
- A passion for New Zealand and a desire to share its stories with the world.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
