Tourism New Zealand is the kaitiaki (guardian) of Aotearoa New Zealand's tourism brand.
As the Marketing Manager for Japan & Korea, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping how travellers in these key markets experience and connect with Aotearoa New Zealand.
You'll lead the development and delivery of integrated marketing strategies and campaigns across Japan and Korea, driving demand, strengthening brand love, and supporting sustainable tourism outcomes. Working closely with in‑market agencies, global partners, and internal teams, you'll balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution.
- Develop and deliver market‑specific marketing strategies aligned to Tourism New Zealand's global direction.
- Lead integrated campaigns across digital, media, content, partnerships, and trade channels.
- Manage agency relationships and marketing activity to ensure high performance and strong ROI.
- Use insights, data, and market intelligence to optimise campaign effectiveness.
- Collaborate with global and regional stakeholders to deliver cohesive, on‑brand storytelling.
- Support industry partners and stakeholders to help drive positive outcomes for Aotearoa.

We're looking for a strategic and culturally astute marketer who brings both experience and curiosity.
- Proven experience in marketing roles, ideally within international, destination, or consumer-led environments.
- Strong experience developing and delivering integrated multi-channel marketing campaigns.
- Advanced digital marketing capability across the media mix, including optimisation, analytics, and consumer journey mapping and performance reporting.
- Deep understanding of the Japan and/or Korea markets, including consumer behaviour, and media landscapes and cultural nuances, supported by native‑level Japanese fluency.
- Korea market capability demonstrated through either 2-3 years' professional experience in‑market or conversational Korean proficiency sufficient for stakeholder engagement.
- Experienced working with agencies and external partners to deliver high impact outcomes‑impact outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across cultures.
- A data‑driven mindset, with the ability to translate insights into action.
- A strategic thinker who loves bringing bold ideas to life.
- Can balance creativity with commercial thinking.
- Confident working across cultural environments.
- Strong project management capability.
- Strong English proficiency and experience working in international organisations to ensure effective collaboration across global teams.
- An interest in and practical understanding of how AI and emerging technologies can be used to enhance marketing effectiveness, insights, and campaign optimisation.
- Able to travel domestically and internationally as required.
